NHMRC NICS Stroke Bundle

Emergency Department Stroke and TIA  Care Bundle, a  guideline implementation resource developed through the Emergency Care Community of Practice  to support EDs to implement evidence-based recommendations for acute stroke and TIA patients. http://www.nhmrc.gov.au/nics/programs/emergency/stroke_tia.htm

A bundle approach was taken to test a method to prioritise relevant guideline recommendations for the ED - any comments welcome

Burns resources

The Global Evidence Mapping (GEM) Initiative and the Australasian Cochrane Centre (ACC) have partnered with the Victorian Adult Burns Service to develop rapid summaries of evidence for the emergency management of burns.

The conference organisers have offered the GIN EC Community the opportunity to have a 2hr session. The Steering Group have been involved in developing a proposal in response to the ICEM conference organisers. Please let me know if you intend being at the conference and would like to involved in the planned session or know of some excellent speakers in the Asia Pacific region that we could possibly invite.  A great opportunity to promote the GIN EC Community.

Abstracts submissions will close February 1st - check out the potential topics that are suggested.

Eddy Lang a member of the GIN EC Community Steering group is on the Scientific Committee and is encouraging papers, presentations or workshop from the international emergency care sector. Papers from across disciplines will be welcomed - it would be fantastic to have pre hospital, nursing and medicine represented.

What's new

New website for the GIN EC Community

G-I-N is revamping their website and also developing pages for the special interest group including the GIN EC Community. The plan is to go live early next year, it is much more user friendly than the wiki space. There is a plan  to hold a series of teleconferences or webinars next year. and the schedule will be posted  as soon as it goes live. This will be a great way to start the New Year.

A problem shared, an idea borrowed or your success stories

If you have a question or would like an answer or opinion on  best practice, implementation, guideline development, research related to guidelines let the group help you out!  Given the wealth of knowledge and expertise across the group there will be someone that can assist. Share what worked or what didn't - lessons  for us all.
