Najoua Mlika-Cabanne Innovation Award 2014

Second Award

Professor Jeremy Grimshaw was announced as the second Najoua Mlika-Cabanne award winner by Amir Qaseem, G-I-N chair 2012 – 14, during the opening ceremony of Melbourne 2014.

The criteria for selection were innovation in the methodology, development and implementation of clinical practice guidelines, as well as having made an outstanding contribution to the guideline community. Dr Grimshaw was considered a clear winner in each category.

Professor Jeremy Grimshaw trained as a family physician in Edinburgh prior to undertaking a PhD in health services research at the University of Aberdeen and later moving to Canada to dedicate his research career to the evaluation of interventions to disseminate and implement evidence-based practice. Jeremy is a Senior Scientist at Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, a Full Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Ottawa and a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Health Knowledge Transfer and Uptake. He is Director of Cochrane Canada and Co-ordinating Editor of the Cochrane Effective Practice and Organisation of Care group. He is also the Principal Investigator of Knowledge Translation Canada, an interdisciplinary network of over 50 knowledge translation researchers from six academic health science centres in three provinces. He has over 350 peer reviewed publications and is widely thought of as the "guru" of implementation sciences.
