Purpose and Background
This website is an important component of G-I-N's overall goal to improve the quality of health care by promoting systematic development of clinical practice guidelines and their application into practice, through supporting international collaboration.
The cost of running and maintaining the website is fully funded by the annual membership fees of the G-I-N members.
The website's content is monitored and edited by the Website content/Editorial steering group that includes the Webmaster, Inga König and the Executive Officer Elaine Harrow.
Part of the G-I-N´s website content is available to the general public, part is password-protected and for members only. The public sections provide general information about the G-I-N organisation, provide details of its member organisations and on how to become a member, list news and events/activities and provide links to other related websites. The member sections provide a database of guideline programmes developed by G-I-N members and networking opportunities.
The content presented on this website is intended primarily for the following audiences:
- Organisations and individuals involved in developing, disseminating, implementing, or evaluating clinical practice guidelines or otherwise active in the field of clinical practice guidelines
- Physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals and provider organisations
- Health plans, health systems, health care organisations, hospitals, and integrated health care delivery systems
- Medical specialty and professional societies
- National, regional and local government health care policymakers
Any non-health professionals (e.g., patients/consumers) accessing this site should understand that the information presented is intended and designed for the use of the expert audiences previously identified. Patients/consumers should always seek assistance from a health care professional in interpreting these materials and applying them in individual cases.
