G-I-N Data Extraction Resource

GINDER is a resource for guideline developers to both access and enter data extracted from individual studies in a standardised template. This resource forms the foundation for the development of evidence tables. Currently, only diagnostic accuracy studies can be entered into GINDER. In the future, it will be possible to enter intervention, health economic and prognostic studies.

Note: Document means Guideline Library document i.e. guideline, systematic review, evidence report, guideline clearing report.

Definitions:

Template

minimum data abstracted from a single study to allow consistent comparison across studies and to inform a group process in evidence synthesis.

Evidence tables

methodological and outcome summaries that present data from a number of related studies.

Search options

Automatic "AND"

By default, if you enter a string of words in the search criteria, the "and" operator is used. For example:

heart disease africa

would find any content containing all of those words.

"OR"

To search for content which contains either of your search terms, use the "OR" operator. Example:

asthma OR depression

would return results that contained either asthma or depression.

"NOT"

To make combinations of words required and exclude words, use the "NOT" operator. The hyphen acts as the "NOT" operator. For example,

hiv africa -children

would return results that contained both HIV and Africa, but not children.
