NHS Evidence Seeks External Advisers

You may have heard of the web-based service NHS Evidence, provided by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), to allow easy access to high quality clinical and non-clinical information about health and social care. Central to NHS Evidence is an accreditation scheme that recognises sources of guidance with robust processes for guideline production. The aim being to give users confidence in the information available and to help drive up standards over time.

A key step in the NHS Evidence accreditation process is external adviser’s independent scrutiny of our own technical assessment of guideline production processes. The decision to accredit a guidance producer is then made by an independent Advisory Committee, based on our technical assessment, external adviser input and feedback from the guidance producer.

We recognise the wealth of expertise in the G-I-N membership and would like to invite you to apply for the role of external adviser to the NHS Evidence Accreditation programme, to work with us to drive up standards in the field of guideline production.

If you are interested in applying please contact james.stone@nice.org.uk for further information and an application form. Due to the independent nature of the position, regrettably we cannot offer any remuneration for your services, but the names and professional affiliations of the external advisers involved in a specific accreditation decision are published during the public consultation on the draft decision. Requests on your time will also be limited to 2-3 times per year.
