G-I-N spotlight
Results of the members' survey 2009
93 persons representing more than 25 countries and 54 member organisations of G-I-N completed our survey and we would like to thank them all for their contribution. The results will enable the G-I-N Board, working groups and subcommittees to revise the strategy of the Network and to continue to answer to the expectations of our members.
We are delighted to inform you that 88% of respondents indicated that G-I-N is meeting their expectations. The majority of those taking part in the survey were guideline developers, researchers and implementers. The G-I-N conferences remain a major added value of the network, as does its international reach and ability to support organisations and individuals around the world.
Although the survey provided us with very positive results, it did show that the Network needs to focus more on providing you with information on the activities of the network and the outcomes of the working groups. We are hoping that our new website will facilitate this and we encourage you to continue reading our newsletter where we will provide you with updates on the working groups. We will pursue our efforts to provide our membership with activities and tools to meet the challenges encountered and will try to focus on what you wish to see becoming/remaining priorities of the network.
In addition to the above members also asked us to:
- focus on the methodology of guideline development
- promote a standard format for guidelines to make it easy to extract important information and to compare guidelines
- look into the possibility of RSS downloads and uploads
- provide case books on specific topics with worked examples
- provide a list of planned activities
- link development, implementation and evaluation of the use of guidelines.
- make an independent evaluation of guideline innovations in member organisations
- assess the quality of individual guidelines, to facilitate appropriate adaptation, implementation, links to education and disease management.
