Privacy Policy

The Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) is an international not-for-profit association of organisations and individuals involved in clinical practice guidelines. G-I-N is formally constituted as a Scottish Guarantee Company under Company Number SC243691 and recognised as a Scottish Charity under Scottish Charity Number SCO347047 with its Registered Office at J. & H. Mitchell W.S., 51 Atholl Road, Pitlochry, Perthshire PH16 5BY, Scotland.

This website is an important component of G-I-N’s overall goal to improve the quality of health care by promoting systematic development of clinical practice guidelines and their application into practice, through supporting international collaboration.

The Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) provides this website as a service to its members and to the public. We do not collect personal information about you when you visit our website unless you choose to provide that information to us. We do not give, share, sell or transfer any personal information to a third party.

 

Information Automatically Collected and Stored

General Public (ie, non-members, non-administrators)

Any time you visit a website, search content, read pages, browse or download information, certain details about your visit can be collected.

This website uses etracker technology (www.etracker.com) to collect visitor behavior data. The data is collected anonymously to be used for marketing and optimization purposes. All visitor data is saved using an anonymous user ID and can be used to aggregate a usage profile. Cookies may be used for this purpose. Cookies are small text files that are stored in the visitor’s local browser cache. Using such cookies it is possible to recognize the visitor’s browser. The data collected via etracker technology will not be used to determine the personal identity of the website visitor or compiled with personal data pertaining to the user of the pseudonym unless agreed to separately by the person concerned. G-I-N Members/Administrators

The main purpose of the Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) website is to serve as a shared resource for its members.

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, we use software programs to monitor traffic to identify unauthorised attempts to upload or change information or otherwise cause damage to the site.

The G-I-N site contains purpose-built features which track users (note: members and administrators ONLY) and their activity. Cookies are used to store log in information of registered users.

  

Personal Information

Casual visitors to the G-I-N website are not required to provide any personal information. However, personal information is required from individuals/organisations who wish to become G-I-N members.

Site visitors who choose to provide G-I-N with personal information by sending an email or by filling out a form with personal information and submitting it through the website are advised that the information is maintained only as long as is needed to respond to the question or to fulfil the stated purpose of the communication. The information provided is handled on a confidential basis. However, e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception. Any messages that contain sensitive information are better sent by post.
