Hosting future G-I-N conferences

During our AGM in Manchester and at the closing ceremony of the 2018 conference, Elaine Harrow, CEO launched the bid to seek local hosts for the G-I-N conferences from 2022 onwards.

Interested organisational members should contact Elaine Harrow if they would like to find out more about being a co-host or to see a sample proposal and budget.

The 2019 conference was confirmed in December 2017 as a joint conference with the Joanna Briggs Institute and will take place in Adelaide, Australia. G-I-N 2020 will be held in Toronto, with McMaster University as the local host.

We are in discussions with partners to present a second Global Evidence Summit in 2021.  We are currently planning to circulate a call for interest to seek a local host for this conference.  We anticipate that this joint announcement will be made in the new year - we will circulate it to all organisational members at that time.

The board made the decision some time ago to relax the rotation model in order to remove geographical restrictions so that interested organisational members may better plan ahead if they would like to co-host a conference, however, we remain keen to rotate the locations to maximise accessibility from all regions.

We are keen to hear from all interested organisational members to co-host G-I-N 2022 and beyond.  We are maintaining a list of potential future hosts, so please get in touch to note your interest and we will keep you updated on timescales for the formal bidding process in the future.

Interested organisations should contact with any questions in the first instance and to find out more detailed information about the organisation of a G-I-N conference.

We recommend working with the local convention bureau in preparation of a bid as they have proved very helpful to potential local hosts and can normally provide the local marketing information to be included in the proposal.

G-I-N provides a template budget for prospective local hosts and guidelines for completion.

There is no financial commitment required from a local host, but there are a number of tasks that we ask of you, such as full involvement in the process of appointing a local Professional Conference Organiser, securing sponsorship for the conference, visiting potential venues required for the event and participating in the local organising committee for approximately one year.

Once you have decided that you would definitely like to be a future local host, you should complete the Expression of Interest form and send it along with your full proposal and a covering letter to Elaine Harrow:
